1st Grey Hunter Painted!!!

Well I got my very first Grey hunter painted, and thought i'd ask y'all what y'all thought about it. Sorry bout the crappy phone pics, but camera is still packed up.

not Golden Daemon by any stretch, but I think it is simple and effective. So far my planned list to run Friday night is

Rune Priest
---Living Lightning, JotWW, Storm Bolter, Runic Weapon
Rune Priest
---Living Lightning, Tempests Wrath, BP/RW
Rune Priest
---Living Lightning, Murderous Hurricane, Bolter/RW

3x Wolf Guard
---Combi-Melta PF

3x9 Grey Hunters
---Meltagun, Wolf Standard, MotWulfen
---Rhino - HK Missile

1x5 Grey Hunters
---Plasma Gun
---Razorback - Las/TL Plas, HK Missile

3x6 Long Fangs
---2x LCs, 3x MLs
---Razorback - Las/TL Plas, HK Missile

1997 Pts.

I like the list thus far, as it is shooty as hell, mobile, and still has a lot of boots on the ground. The Rune Priests are gonna hang with the Long Fangs and throw Living Lightning all over the place, the 1x5 GH's in the Razorback will be my babysitter unit. I am most excited about this army's turn one Shooting phase, as i can throw 16 S8, 10 S9, and 3d6 S7 shots at 13 different targets. Talk about dead transports/tanks. Anyway, we'll give it a shot tomorrow and see how it goes!

So what is the consensus? Did the Grey Hunter turn out pretty well? Is the list decent? Will The Grizz ever find his camera so he can quit taking pictures with his phone?

The Times They Are A Changin...

Is this the new face of 40k?
Sorry for the long delay, but now we are back on track. I finally got some games in, and actually have some 40k stuff to talk about. Anyway, on to the good stuff!

Over the last couple of days, and the last few games, The Grizz may have come to a realization. There may have been a fundamental change in the game of Warhammer 40,000. Maybe its the new area, new lists, new players, or maybe its just a shift in the overall meta game, I don't know. Something, however, is different.

Go Me
What is different, you ask? Lists that work. I played in a tournament Saturday and brought my usual Blood Angel tournament list. Out of the 8 people that participated, Yours Truly came in dead last. Thats right, dead effin last. First round I played against a 3 long fang/razor-heavy Space Wolf list. Second was a rhino heavy hestan list. Finally I played against Wiley the Nord's 5 venom flyer heavy Dark Eldar army.

In all of these games, my DoA army had shooting issues. Now, I am very aware that my Blood Angel army is not the shootiest army in existence, but I have always had just enough, and have been able to rely on my assault abilities. With all the transports, all the shooting, is it possible to play a foot based list any more? With the release of Dark Eldar and Grey Knights, can you run a list with minimal transports and still win consistently? I am starting to think you can't. Armies like Tyranids don't have a chance. If I take my Nid army to a tournament and face one, just one Grey Knight player with a half a brain, I may as well just go ahead and put a check in the L column.

Typed Venom Spam into Google,
This was the first result.
Without transports, there is no way to hide from the poisoned shots and the S5 storm bolter shots. And with my specific DoA list, if 1 or 2 shots miss, then I have serious issues, as then I am having to pop transports in assault, leaving me open to my opponents' shooting phase. I don't know what they are makin rhinos out of these days, but they aren't as easy to bust as they used to be, and there is a whole lot more of them. The weirdest thing is, is that for me at least, it happened overnight. I feel like my competitive list went from good to uncompetitive in less than a month.

Like I said before, maybe its due to the change in the meta game from where I used to play to where I play now, though it feels like something more fundamental, something deeper. Now I am not saying this is a bad thing, and maybe everyone else is already aware of this and I am just behind the ball on this deal, I dunno. I do know, however, that in order to compete, My lists, my game, my style will have to change.

So, is The Grizz  off base? Is he late to the party? Or has there been a shift recently in the overall way that the game was played?

The Infamous Gaming Drought

Hi everyone, welcome back. Today I want to discuss the serious effects of not properly hydrating yourself with an adequate amount of gaming, yes that's right, gaming drought. As I am currently going through a gaming drought, this makes me an expert on the subject.

Definition: Gaming Drought(GD)- increased period of time for a war-gamer to go without war-gaming resulting in negative effects, including paralysis and even death( just kidding).

Symptoms:
Detailed Theory Hammer: Most people know Theory Hammer is useful in list building, but is otherwise useless. Gamers experiencing drought tend to attempt to play 40k completely in there head, trying to fulfill there need completely mentally, worse than a 12-year old who just discovered boobs. This symptom greatly hinders a gamers actual competitive ability.
Don't mistake constipation for concentration!

Spontaneous Dice Rolling: "Oh, look! 3 random dice!" ...3 hours later...." where am I? What was I doing?" Sound familiar? Spontaneous Dice rolling happens to many GD sufferers. The luck ones have wives to yell at them to tell them they are making too much noise, but others roll dice constantly, not even knowing why or what they are rolling for. They just know this action brings joy somehow, but can't seem to get it to work this time.

Model Selling Syndrome(MSS)- People with MSS often find themselves thinking things like " Why do I need 8- 40k armies?" or " I never play Fantasy anymore, why do I need this High Elves army?" or " These Flashgits and Stompa are doing nothing for me here on my shelf." or "I'm never gonna play or paint with all of this." While absolutely every one of the above statements is probably true,....well... that's not the point. The point is you bought everything you got because you wanted it. And selling models sucks( look forward to a future post entitled: "Why I Hate Selling Models!!"). You don't get near the value out of them that you put into them, and it turns you off to the idea of playing the army, or even that game in the future. MSS is one of the worst symptoms of GD. Of course MSS is also caused by MGS, Married Gamer Sydrome, but that's a different article.
"All I need now is my Titan Legion and I'll be set! No, my third mortgage should about cover it!

Lack of Painting Motivation: Nothing gets you motivated to paint like going to a big tournament. Likewise, a month without gaming will completely take your motivation to paint. Why paint it?

Other Symptoms. Moodiness, Irritability, Lack of Sleep,Nausea, Indigestion, Depression, Thoughts of Suicide, Heart-failure,inability to have a 'you-know', Oily Discharge, Heartburn, Sunburn, Spontaneous Combustion, Random detaching of limbs, and wax-like discharge from ears, and NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST!!!!

You sure you can't fit a game in?

Causes: Life mostly: Moving, School, Graduating, Finding a Job, Spending time with family, Lack of Money, Childern being born (congrats Randel!!!)  I'm a firm believer that little plastic men come last in life, but one must take time to enjoy little things in life as well.

What about the war-gaming hobby makes it so addicting? Why do we just feel we have to get a game in?There are many great things about the hobby, and I think that all of them comprise the answer. The answer is that the hobby is so engrossing.  From painting, to playing, when immersed in the hobby, we think of little else. Not the wife, school, family, job, or whatever. This gives us a break from the everyday grind. We mere humans need breaks like these in order to feel refreshed so we can approach the rest of our lives focused and ready to do well. So take it from me, take the the time, and go play!
What are some good ways ya'll find to squeeze a game in?

Webway Dark Eldar vs DoA Blood Angels

My buddy "The Dude" agreed to let me batrep our game. Somehow Dude and I always have super bloody fights, and this one was no exception! I knew going in that it would be gruesome with DoA vs foot DE.

The Lists: (from memory)
DoA:
Sanginor
Libby with jump pack, Unleash Rage and Blood Lance
5 Man Honour Guard with 4 Plasma guns

3 Sanguinary Priests with Jump packs and Power Weapons
3 X 10 Assault Marines with 2 meltas and pf Serg
7-9 Vanguard with 2 LC/SS, 1 PF, 1 TH, 1 TH/SS (from memory)

Webway:
Vect
2 Haemonculus with Webway Portals
4 x 10 Wyches with 2 Hydra Gauntlets, Haywire Grenades, Hekatrix with Agonizer
5 Warriors with Blaster
3 Wracks with Venom
2 X 5 Scourges with 2 Haywire Blasters
5 Beastmasters 5 Kymera 6 Razorwings 1 Clawed Fiend
2 Chronos Parasite Engines with all upgrades

Mission: Drawfest
Deployment: Spearhead
The board: (Red circles show where the bases are)
Photobucket
I won first turn and put my objective in the woods on the bottom left. I should have taken second turn, but I was an idiot and didn't think about it...gotta get sharper...I roll for drugs and get +1 WS

Turn 1 deployment:
Photobucket
All I deploy is my Venom with the Wracks and both Haemonculi embarked. Dude declines to sieze so here we go!

Photobucket
I move 12" toward the Dudes base, disembark and lay down 2 webways in the shooting phase. Dude is in full reserve, so he has no turn 1.

Turn 2:
Photobucket
I roll for reserves and get 3 units of Wyches, the warriors, 1 Chronos, 1 Scourges. Warriors walk on behind my objective. Everything spreads out to try to keep the DoA from hitting too hard. Haemonculi split from the wracks, one takes 2 pain tokens and joins Vect's unit, the other takes the last pain token and joins the far right Wyche squad. The Wracks load up and head towards my base. Everyone runs and spreads out, warriors get into cover.

Photobucket
Dude rolls for Reserves and gets everything except 1 Assault squad. Top squad has Libby inside. The small squad is the honour guard, the bottom squad is the Vanguard. Vanguard declared heroic intervention and planned to assault the warriors. The Honour guard landed and opened a can on the Venom. Vanguard charged my warriors and turned them into clam chowder. Sangiunor looked majestic...

Turn 3:
I roll reserves and get everything else on. 2nd scourge squad comes off the back edge towards the forest in front of Sanguinor. My scourges both maneuver to be able to shoot Sanguinor, I manage to put 2 wounds on him. Beastmasters and Wyches come on near my objective. Vect's unit, the chronos and another wyche unit manuever to be able to charge the libby squad. Chronos causes wounds with both shooting weapons, throwing a pain token to both wyche squads, which make Vect's squad have 3, the other squad have 2. I fleet around and charge. Beastmasters charge the honour guard, wyches charge the vanguard, and I multi assault the Libby's Assault Squad.

Photobucket
Somehow my Beastmasters kill 1 Honor guard and I lose by 5...with him running down the whole squad...seriously?
Photobucket
1 Agonizer targetted the Sang Priest to deny fnp, the rest of my attacks go on the squad...I caused 23 wounds and didn't have vect involved. Libby lives. I can't remember the details, but he must have rolled snake eyes, I don't know how he could have survived otherwise lol.
Photobucket
The Wyches and the VV are obviously not interested in fighting, this one will last a while.

Dudes turn three he moves his other assault squad south to get fnp on his VV, moves his honour guard up to plasma my unengaged chronos. Drops his last Assault squad in the big open area on my side of the board. The honour guard start shooting....

Photobucket
and somehow only kill themselves...that was insane!
The VV forget how to fight, but thanks to fnp bubble all survive, drawn combat. I kill the libby in hand to hand, now Vect's squad has 4 pain tokens, the other wyche squad has 3 pain tokens and the Chronos has 2 pain tokens. Sanguinor charges 1 scourge squad and turns them into swiss cheese. They lose by 4 and get ran down.

Turn 4:
My green wych squad had a high consolidate last round, so they roll up to engage the assault squad. I realize that I need to pull the priest so I string my wyches out so only 1 wyche can assault into hand to hand and he will have to pile into me. The Chronos shoots that squad and kills a few, the other chronos shoots the squad that just dropped and did nothing.  Vect and his cronies move up. I assault the painted squad. He wins the combat by a couple, but thanks to FNP and fearless I stick around.
Photobucket

Photobucket
This is what the other half of the table looks like at this point, the other scourge squad shot Sanguinor to death gaining a pain token. Those Wyches are squatting unmolested on that objective.

Photobucket
Dudes turn four sees his newest assault squad move over towards the wyche/assault squad fight. He breaks his Priest off to bubble his VV and his Assault squads. Then he dual charges the wych fight and the Chronos, killing everything.
Photobucket
Yet another round of fighting between this wyche squad and the VV, nobody dies. What the hell!

Turn 5:
Photobucket
Vect and the Wyches come down to play with the assault squads. I move the scourges towards all the fighting. The chronos comes down to see what he can target. I fleet in such a way that I can charge vect into the small squad and the wyches into the big squad, I think I should have reversed that, but again, I haven't played wyches much so this was a learning experience. Vect slaughters 5 of the Assault marines, but leaves the priest and the pf...foreboding...I don't think the wyches kill many if any.
Photobucket
These wyches still fighting the VV...will this ever end?

Photobucket
Dude's Turn 5 sees Vect only able to swing at the painted squad, he throws 3 at the priest and 3 at the pf...and didn't kill the pf (3s to hit, preferred enemy, 3s to wound with a power weapon...) and he gets squished in return, wyches kill a few but lose a few, I think the final tally was wyches losing by 3.

Turn 6:
Dude rolls and we get a 6th turn.
Photobucket
Scourges continue to move towards the objective, shooting the lone priest on the way over. Finally killing him. The remainder of my wyche squad whittles dudes other assault squad down to where its only 2 in one squad the the pf in the other. But in return gets squished down to just 1 hydra gauntlet left in the fight. My Wyches finally kill a few VV, now its 1 hydra gauntlet and an agonizer vs 1 LC/SS VV without Fnp, I should shore this fight up during dudes turn and be ready to consolidate onto my obj.

Dudes turn 6 sees me die to the 1 assault marine and 2 assault marines. I kill the VV and don't roll high enough to get to the obj, dude did make it to the obj though. If the game ends now, its a tie....

I roll for turn 7 and get it!

Turn 7:
Photobucket

I move scourges over and shoot at the lone pf guy, doing nothing. Those last 2 wyches charge the 2 assault marines left in the open, he consolidated them so I couldn't assault both. I kill those assault marines. And are now contesting the obj with my Scourges.

Dudes last turn he assaults the scourges, hoping to kill them and win, but only manages to kill 1 due to Ghostplate armor 6+ invul saves and I stick around.

Photobucket
End of the game sees my Wyches holding his objective, and contesting mine.

It was a great game, I think it might have been different if the Beastmasters hadn't sucked so hard in their only assault, but thats how it goes sometimes. Looking back I probably should have just brought the warriors up through the webways so I could protect them, and just used wyches to get to mine in the back.

I had a lot of fun with this list, I can't way to get all the models put together and get paint on them!

What do you guys think?

Updates

Well, today has been quite successful. Thanks to my buddy Shane at Dicehead Games and Comics, i was able to sell off all my fantasy stuff, and walked out of his store today with -

Carnifex Kit - Tervigon conversion
Hormagant box

Space Wolves Grey Hunter Box
Devastator Box
Canis Wolfborn - on order - Finecast
Logan Grimnar - On Order - Finecast
5 bricks of Chessex Dice

Stormraven

So, needless to say, I have plenty to work with. I am currently tryin to get my Blood Angels completely painted for a tournament next weekend, somethin that should have been done a long time ago. I had a thought to paint up one of my Assault squads as a successor chapter, then make both of my other RAS from different companies, just to give the army some flavor. We will see, however.

What I plan on runnin next week

Librarian
---Jump Pack, Shield of Sang., Sang. Sword
Sang. Guard
---Jump Pack
3x10 RAS
---Melta, Flamer, Fisty Sarge

Furioso Dread
---Frag Cannon, HF, Drop Pod

Lemmiwinks
3x7 Death Co.
3x bp/ccw, 3x bp/pw, 1x PF
DC Dread
---Blood Talons
Stormraven
---Multi Melta, Ass. Cannon, Extra Armor

Stormraven
---Lascannon, Cyc. ML, EA

Wantin to try out Lemmiwinks, as he can be such a beast, as well as I7 on the charge, and getting to reroll the hits and wounds. I have been wanting to try the 2 Raven list, as the mobility and the firepower can be devastating. I don't know whether or not to drop the jp's off of a RAS and stick them in there, making it a mobile scoring unit, that remains to be seen.

Well thats all for now, hopefully once things get settled, I will get back into playin some games and start makin posts with a lil more substance, till then peace out!

Anti- Grey Knight Tatica: Quick and Dirty!!!

Don't let its looks fool you, THAT BABY IS MEAN!!!
Hi everyone!!! Welcome back! Today I'm going to do a little short and sweet GK tactica. I plan on doing some more articles for army specific tactica. Many of you may not know this, but during my hiatus I actually bought some GK models and planned on playing for a long time to come. Sadly, the GW price hikes put a sour taste in my mouth and I simply had to let them go. It really is a shame. I loved the codex the army. They play really well. I say this just to let you know, I've done my homework on them and even played a few games. Without further ado:

The Good News: I think most marine armies are going to have trouble with them. Why? Because Gk troops shoot like hell and still have power weapons to boot. Generally GK troops can put other power armored troops to shame. Ya they are more expensive, but having troops that can actually do something is a plus. (Unless you’re grots, then it's ok). Of course to us xenos folk, they are still marines, and that is where we beat them.
Strengths:
Tons and Tons of Anti-Infantry firepower, I mean seriously LOTS!!!
Generally you’re looking at the entire army having S5, power weapon attacks that often hit at I6. Gross.
HQ can carry rad grenades that reduce your toughness and even cause your own models to attack themselves.
Entire army has force weapons
Every unit has great psychic powers that can potentially win them the game
Warp Quake: I don't call broken, often. Never in fact. But this is.
Things that absolutely rape daemons and psykers

Weaknesses:
Expensive, very very expensive
Relatively low weapon skills, with 4 on most and 5 only on the uber expensive
Low number of attacks, most only have one with the best only having two
Difficulty with heavy armor. Most Gk armies will struggle with AV 13 or 14
Most guns in army 24" range

General Advice:
Look for Holes:  Building Balanced GK army is tough. It is very easy to take too many shiny toys and that leaves GK armies underperforming in one area or the other. Find the weakness and take advantage of it.

Psychic Limitations: Most Grey knight squads can only cast one psychic phase per turn and activating force weapons counts as using a psychic power. This means while GK have many tools at their disposal, they can only use one at a time. During an assault, most if not all power must be cast before ANY blows are struck, including yours.  Plan for this during game play to truly gage a squad’s capability

Assault Them, Especially in numbers: Gk may look scary in assault but due to their WS4 and low number of attacks they are often underwhelming in assault. However they are much scarier at range. Assaulting them keeps you safe from taking 20 X S5, or 4 X S6 flamers to the face. That’s a good thing.

Find the HQ and the RAD grenades: Having an HQ attach to a squad greatly bolsters a squads ability to do damage in assault, allot due to fact that it allows the squad to effectively cast two powers a phase, since the squad can 'piggy-back' on an HQ hammer hand. Couple this with Rad Grenades and you can very well fine which squad your opponent is planning on getting into combat.

Over-extension and counter attack:  They vehicles that GK can move and assault out of are Stormravens and Land Raiders. What does this mean? Well they want a nasty assault unit they need a nasty squad, with a nasty HQ, with a nasty transport, that usually all totals around 600 to 700 pts. This usually means there is never more than one and the most assault support said squad is going to get is a Dreadknight. With that many points in a unit, it can't just sit back. It will very often over extend itself. Many players are turning to the Modarak squad for in-your-face-ness, but I still feel this is often and overextension. Be pre-pared and be able to bring down the weight of your army if it over extends.

Death stars: Take a Deathstar, something mean, something quick. Now, don't try to take out his death star, Cuz you'll probably lose that fight. Try to put it into the rest of his army. This will take out his fire base which is very important if you are troop based like nids or orks.

Plan for the Dreadknight: I know it's gotten some crap because of the model, but competitive players who are looking to add speed, firepower, and assault capabilities in a durable package simply won't be able to pass it up. Have something in your list that can handle it.

Plan for the Shunt: Dreadknights and Interceptors have the ability to move 30" once per game.  Plan ahead and don't forget about it.

Don't Deepstrike Anything!!!: Seriously. Nothing. Warp quake has absoutlely ruined the concept of deepstriking. If you can't, not deepstrike it, take it outta the list.

Well there you have it. What are some ways not discussed here that you are finding to take these shiny marines down? Tune in next time as I attempt the monumental task of writing a very hard article: Anti-GK tactica: Tyranids!!!

To Thunderwolf Or Not To Thunderwolf

Well, between the moving, packing, and cleaning, I somehow found time to finally get my first game in with my Space Wolves. My good friend Pariah.Stevo from over at Tainted By Xenos (which is back up and running BTW) came over to help me move and while waiting for the Storage unit we squeezed a game in. I took a very different list than i normally take, as it was a shooty list with no deathstar, as I wanted to see how certain things work. I took -

Wolf Lord
---Runic armor, Frost Axe, SS, Wolftooth Necklace

4x Wolf Guard
---Combimeltas & PFs

4x Grey Hunters Squads, 3x9, 1x8
---Plasma, Rhino w/ Hunter Killer Missile

2x Rune Priests
---Liv. Light./Jaws
---Liv. Light./Jaws, Melta Bombs

2x Long Fang Squads
---3x MLs, 2x LCs
---Razorback w/ LC/TLPG, HK Missile

Vindicator
---HK Missile

Steve took his tournament Ork list, which entails - Ed. Steve, if this is wrong correct me

Ghazghkull
Mek w/ KFF & Power Klaw
A squad of Nobz with Cybork bodies, WAAAGH Banner, Bosspole
Battlewagon w/ Deffrolla, Red Paint

17 Shoota Boys
Nob w/ Boss pole, Power klaw
Battlewagon w/ deffrolla

16 Shoota Boys

Nob w/ Boss pole, Power klaw
Battlewagon w/ deffrolla

2x15 Lootas

2x Deffcoptas w/ buzzsaws

Babysitting grot squad

What Should've Happened
Ok, so basically Murphy and his law came in and beat the ever livin crap out of me from turn one. We rolled Dawn of War, so Ghazghkull started halfway across the board and night fighting caused me to do absolutely zilch for damage. The next turn sees 6 lascannons (2 at side armor),2 Missile Launchers, 2 HK missiles (at side armor) and a Demolisher Cannon (side armor) give me one immobilized result and a Crew Shaken result on Ghazzy's wagon. Awesome. Ghazghkull then proceeds to charge me from across the board.

What Did Happen
From then till the end of turn four when we called it I watched 9 shoota shots kill 7 grey hunters in one roll, 2 lascannons bounce off AV 12, a Wolf Lord kill a whopping 2 Ork nobs (over 4 rounds of assault), a grey hunter squad shoot and charge a shoota boy squad and cause a grand total of 3 wounds, then watched Steve roll three 6s, pretty much my dice hated me. With a vengeance. over the course of the day I failed 7 of 9 vehicle 4+ covers. Not my day.

God do I love a good Beatstick...
Now, although I deployed wrong, my dice completely failed me, and Steve's were on fire, and after such a game it is a terrible idea to immediately redo your army list, I have begun to think about new units. Now, if you haven't figured this out about me by now, i like a good beatstick. I carry a .45, I hunt with a 7mm Rem. Mag., I drive a V8. I like em big and powerful. Looking back at all my armies, every build I have ever liked has a deathstar in it. My old Ultras had Hestan and TH/SS Termies in a LRR. Blood Angels have the Chappie/DC/DC Dread/Stormraven combo, Chaos has either Abaddon/Plagues/LR or 2x MoN DPs and a GD,  my Nids have the Trygons. I like beatsticks.

Which brings me to my current dilemma. How do I run an effective, shooty SW army and still have a good beatstick in there to help with the Vects and Ghazghkulls out there? I then began to read the Thunderwolf Cavalry entry. Dear. God. These dudes mean business, with a true T5 and 4 base attacks. And a not so terrible price tag. This unit could fill in that little deathstar sized hole in my heart. So I revamped the list, and came up with this -

Wolf Lord
---Frost Axe, SS, Runic Armor, WT Necklace, Thunderwolf Mount, Saga of the Bear
5x Thunderwolf Cavalry
---BP/CCW
---BP/SS
---Plasma Pistol/CCW
---BP/CCW, Melta Bombs
---BP/TH

4x Wolf Guard
---Combi Melta, PF
4x9 Grey Hunters
---Plasma Gun, Rhino

2x Long Fang Packs
---3x ML/2x LC

Vindicator

1999pts.

That way, I am runnin a similar army that is shooty, but still has a beatstick. Now, I'll just have to proxy some TWC and see how I like em before I drop the dough for em. Still haven't found a company who's TWC I really love, but maybe y'all can help me with that :)

So what do we think? Are TWC the way to go? Is The Grizz's new plan absolute crap? Are there good lookin TWC models out there? Let us know below!

Bring on the Webway!

I've been toying with the idea of making my Dark Eldar force into a more assault based army ever since I started the long road to the ATC. But due to all the playtesting I was doing with Deathwing I never got the opportunity to use the ninja DE list. Now that the Maul in the Mall is around the corner, its time to dust off those Webway Portals and grease up the Talos!

Tenative List: 2000 pt Dark Eldar Roster

Vect
I'm bringing Vect over the Baron for a few reasons.
1) He is a combat monster and that is always fun!
2) He has a str 10 blast with 12" range, and with his BS 8 he shouldn't get much of a scatter :p
3) He gives a 4+ to sieze, with my list I will probably set up the same regardless of winning the roll or not, but I guarantee that when my opponent realizes that I can seize on a 4+ they will deploy differently. (Sean Combs would say I'm mindfucking my opponent!)

2 Haemonculus with Webway Portals
3 Wracks in Raider with Flickerfield
If the board has LOS blocking terrain that I can hide my Raider behind, then Vect will join up with this super unit so he can thieve a pain token after the webway deployment. If not he probably reserves with the rest of the army. By having 2 Haemmies joining the wracks, the unit starts with 3 pain tokens and is therefore fearless, so you have to kill them all to keep the webway from deploying.

4 X 10 Wyches with Haywire Grenades, 2 Shardnets/Impalers, and a Hekatrix with Agonizer
Wyches are the backbone of the army, these guys can lay the smack down if they get a good drug roll, but regardless they should be able to beat up on vehicles and tie units up for vect to slap into.

2 X 5 Scourges with 2 Haywire Blasters
These guys serve a few purposes, they tote 2 Haywire Blasters to stun vehicles and they can fly 12" to create blocking lanes if needed. They also have 3 shardcarbines which can help throw some poison shots out from time to time.

5 Beastmasters, 1 Clawed Fiend, 5 Kymera, 6 Razorwing Flocks
Beastermaster squads popping out of a webway can be pretty nasty, with 6 inch move, fleet and 12" assault they can close the gap quick. And with the wound allocations shenanigans they can pull off, they can live for a long time.

2 Talos Pain Engines with Chainflails and TL Haywire Blasters
Talos with Haywire Blasters can help with a vehicle horde, but they really shine in hand to hand, by getting 1+d6 attacks and the chainflails let you roll 2d6 and take the highest. These monstrous creatures can also get pain tokens, so when they go off on a unit chewing it to pieces, they could get boosts like every other DE unit.

I'll be playtesting this over the next couple of weeks and will probably write up some tactica after I play a few games with it. Any suggestions for improvement?
